Watching television in bed can be a wonderful way to relax after a long, stressful day. Many people also find it helpful to watch a quiet TV program such as the news to help them relax in bed and fall asleep easily. But watching TV in bed can be uncomfortable. Most pillows are simply designed to support a person’s head as he or she lies on the bed, so they are not ideal for watching TV, and propping up a pillow against a headboard can lead to uneven stress on the spine. It may also be difficult to see the TV set from your comfortable position in bed. Thankfully there are several kinds of pillows for watching TV available. It is important to consider what type best suits your preferences and situation before buying. The most common types of TV pillows are wedge pillows and lounge pillows.
The TV wedge pillow is a large, triangular pillow with one right angle which is placed up against the headboard, allowing you to sit up in bed at a comfortable incline. The wedge is usually filled with a firm but comfortable substance like foam, and may also be wrapped in a softer memory foam. Wedge pillows may be equipped with a neck roll pillow that attaches near the top of the wedge, providing added support for your head and neck.
The TV lounge pillow is more complex. This type of pillow actually resembles a chair, consisting of a back pillow which is placed up against the headboard, attached armrests, and sometimes a headrest. High-end lounge pillows tend to offer the best support and comfort in a pillow for watching TV; they support the back, head, and arms, while others may not provide total support. High-end lounge pillows and wedge pillows are usually similar in price, but simpler lounge pillows are much cheaper.
There are other types of pillows available that can be used as a TV pillow, but none are quite as comfortable as those designed specifically as a pillow for watching TV. If total body support is important to you, a high-end lounge pillow would probably be your best choice; however, if you are just too attached to the comfort of memory foam, a nice wedge pillow with a neck roll would suit you.
